Hi everyone and welcome to the LHS Band Forums!
I'm sure most of you know how forums work, but incase you don't, a forum is a place where members are able to post information and where other members can in turn reply to previous posts. The website is very self explanatory, so just play around with the features a bit and you'll be posting in no time! If you have any questions, click on the "Help" button toward the top of the page for an overview of most of the features. If you still need help, email me at
lhsbandwebmaster@hotmail.com.
-----RULES-----
Once you are in the forums, make sure that you follow the rules of the site. As a general rule, don't say anything that you have to question. If you have to question how appropriate it is, it will probably be inappropriate. Below are a few rules:
-No use of vulgar language (this includes abbreviations…we know what you mean) [3]
-No sexually suggestive language [2]
-No harassment [1]
-No threats [1]
-No spamming (posting constantly, or posting a message with the same information over and over) [3]
-No posting of inappropriate images or links (you know what I mean) [2]
-No attacks on other people or bands (in elementary terms, no put-downs as well) [2]
-No inappropriate avatars / uploads [2]
-No discussion of illegal activity [2-1]
-No multiple accounts (only ONE account per person) [3]
-No pointless threads (posts to just get your post count up) [3]
-It is impossible to list all of the “do-nots” here (& I don’t want to), so moderators of the forums have the ability to use their discretion on any post and punish anyone accordingly.
-----The “Number System”-----
Incase you didn’t notice above, there are numbers in brackets next to each rule. Each number denotes the severity of the consequence if the rule is broken.
[3]: This is a “light” offense usually from misusage of the board or posting of something socially seen as improper (ex: bad language)
[2]: This is a “medium” offense usually from usage of very poor language or minor offense taken toward another person / group (ex: put-downs)
[1]: This is a “serious” offense usually from a post related to threats, and serious harassment. A level 1 offense may result in police / administrative involvement depending on the case (ex: bomb threat, death threat)
-----Consequences-----
The consequences are decided by the level of offense that was committed and are determined by the moderator (usually section leaders and the directors). Consequenses are as follows:
[3]:
First Offense………….Removal of post, warning
Second Offense……….Removal of post, seven day ban
Third Offense…………Removal of post, thirty day ban
Fourth Offense………..Removal of post, perma-ban
[2]:
First Offense…………Removal of post, fourteen day ban
Second Offense………Removal of post, director contacted, sixty day ban
Third Offense………...Removal of post, director contacted, perma-ban
[4]:
First Offense………...Removal of post, perma-ban, director contacted, possible parent / police / administrative contact
As you can see, posts are taken VERY seriously. Do not “joke” around with your posts, because consequences may be very severe. Just do what you know is expected however and nothing will happen to you. We do have to take these precautions however because our moderators are not able to see you smiling and joking with a friend when you post a murder threat.
-----Bans-----
You may be wondering what bans are.
A regular “ban” (not permanent and for a set number of days) will restrict you from posting on the website.
A “perma-ban” is permanent and will last forever. You will be banned through your IP address, account name, and email address, so simply put, you won’t be back on the forums.
A record of all bans and punishments will be kept on the “Banned Members” forum, so check there to find out how close you are to losing your account.
